The Local Government Unit of Lidlidda, under the able leadership of Municipal Mayor Atty. Sherwin P. Tomas, through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Ms. Jen Jersica P. Diga, successfully conducted the Senior Citizens General Assembly, a meaningful gathering dedicated to celebrating the lives, wisdom, and invaluable contributions of our beloved senior citizens.

In his heartfelt message, Mayor Tomas expressed his love and deep appreciation for every senior citizen of Lidlidda. He shared the municipality’s ongoing and upcoming development projects, including the construction of a new Senior Citizens Building near the Lidlidda Farmers’ Development Center and a modern Rural Health Unit that aims to provide quality primary healthcare for every Lidliddanian. He also highlighted the partnership between the Sanggir Cooperative and Banucal Integrated School, reflecting the municipality’s continued commitment to education and community development.

The Mayor reminded everyone that our senior citizens are living examples of patience, perseverance, faith, and unconditional love. He encouraged the youth to embrace these same values, emphasizing that the future of Lidlidda rests in the hands of a generation guided by respect, education, and compassion. With a smile, he shared that, by God’s grace, he hopes to become a senior citizen himself someday, a testament to the beautiful life that awaits those who grow old surrounded by purpose and love.

Joining the Mayor were Vice Mayor Hon. James Sacayanan and the members of the Sangguniang Bayan, who likewise conveyed their gratitude, respect, and unwavering support for the municipality’s senior citizens. Together, they reaffirmed that the welfare of our elders will always remain a priority.

A touching testimony was also shared by Ma’am. Florida Balderas, retired Planning Officer, who spoke about her journey into retirement. She admitted that leaving the work she loved was not easy, but retirement eventually taught her to slow down, appreciate life’s simple blessings, cherish time with loved ones, and embrace this new chapter with gratitude. Her inspiring story reminded everyone that growing older is not a burden but a blessing, a reward for a life well lived.

The assembly ended with laughter, excitement, and joyful cheers during the raffle draw, made even more memorable by the generous prizes from the Municipal Mayor and the municipal officials. More than the gifts received, the greatest blessing of the day was the opportunity to celebrate, honor, and spend meaningful moments with the men and women whose sacrifices, hard work, and unwavering love helped shape the community we proudly call home.

To all our beloved senior citizens, thank you for your sacrifices, your wisdom, your strength, and your enduring love. You are the foundation of our families and the living treasures of our municipality. May God continue to bless you with good health, happiness, and many more meaningful years.
